Definition of 4G Network

4G LTE stands for Fourth Generation Long Term Evolution. This is actually a combination of two different terms and has its own standards. G stands for Generation aka Generasi, while the number in front of it is level. In short this technology means the progress of the development of the next generation of networks or networks described below.

Network technology in general has evolved through several generations of 1G 2G 3G 4G. Where 1G is an early generation system that uses analog that can be found on radio devices, while 2G uses a digital system.

A higher number before G, means it has more capabilities and features to transmit and receive information, furthermore that is to achieve higher efficiency through wireless or wireless networks.

The 4G definition

4G is an abbreviation of Fourth Generation aka fourth generation of information and communication technology standard. The 4G network, is believed to provide many features and added value than 3G.

Consequently consumers can access the internet wherever and whenever they are in the coverage area with 4G devices, including mobile phones or smartphones, tablets, and hotspots.

The definition of LTE

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. This technology has been marketed and commonly known as 4G LTE.
It is said that because this technology has largely met the standard of 4G in terms of speed. This is an evolution or development based on GSM / EDGE (2G) and UMTS / HSPA (3G) networks to increase capacity and speed.

Category LTE cat1-16

LTE has a speed defined in some category or category abbreviated as "cat" as released from 3GPP, depending on maximum peak rate of data transfer rate and support capability.
In terms of speed in general, LTE can provide peak data rates of up to 300 Mbps on the downlink and a peak of 75 Mbps data rate on uplink, depending on user device category.

LTE speed categories:

  1. LTE cat3 is a category 3 LTE technology that has speeds up to 102 Mbps for downlink and 51 Mbps for uplink.
  2. LTE cat4 is a category 4 LTE technology having a maximum speed of up to 150.8 Mbps for downlink and 51 Mbps for uplink.
  3. LTE cat6 is a category 6 LTE technology having a maximum speed of up to 301.5 Mbps for downlink and 51 Mbps for uplink.

The LTE 4G network enables voice and video calls, file transmissions, internet, online TV, high quality video, streaming, game play, or any feature that is in it can be enjoyed better than the previous generation.
